This is an example of Minimum depth of field, which is where one object in the foreground of the photograph is in perfect clarity and the remainder of the photograph is usually blurry particularly the background and other aspects of the photograph. This particular example of minimum depth of field is interesting as the background is blurred enough that you can see it is a string of barbed wire however the blurriness almost erases the danger of it, the blurring softens the wire and the sharpness of the one spike invites the eye of the viewer in.
This is a very different example of minimum depth of field due to the fact that the technique is being used to emphasize the beauty of the flower. The natural flower and its stunning aesthetics despite not being in the centre of the photograph the blurred background ensures that the only subject within this photograph is the blue flower.
This example of Minimum Depth of Field is similar to the one of the flower, the technique is used to emphasize the aesthetics. The vibrant green leaves have been sharpened against the blurriness in order to show off their beauty against the bland background of the photograph.
Minimum Depth of Field is used here to emphasize one of the most important balls in this game, the 8 ball is usually what a game of pool comes down to. This sort of shot could be used as advertising, the blurring adds drama to this photograph and makes the 8 ball seem superior to all the other instruments of the game.
This is one of my favourite Minimum Depth of Field photographs as I love the way the domino's act as a collective. The technique is used in this situation to almost fade out the dominos, each one is slightly more blurry than the last in order to show a progression or maybe a depression.
Minimum Depth of Field is used here to show the detail on the bench, the minor details that usually go unnoticed to the naked eye, the camera picks up and magnifies the grooves in the wood, the personal fingerprint left by the tree that this bench once was.
