Shoot 1 - Personal Project - Work Diary

E V A L U A T I O N

In this shoot I chose to focus on wild animals and portraiture and therefore took a trip to Colchester Zoo to photograph a variety of animals from big cats to penguins and meerkats! Wild animals have been avery difficult choice of subject due to the fact it is impossible to control their movements or how they act. At one point during the shoot I tried to shoot flamingo's and they kept flying away which frustrated me. I very much enjoyed this shoot despite its difficulty and feel like I achieved some very good photographs. Due to the zoom on my camera a Nikon Coolpix P520 and the brilliant vantage points at Colchester Zoo I managed to get some high quality photographs.

Given the chance to repeat this shoot and try the idea again I definitely would, I would love to try it with a more high quality camera and different lenses to see what effect this would give my photographs of animals. I would definitely like to focus more on the Big Cat group aswell. I feel I could do better with better equipment for example instead of shooting free hand I would use a tripod. The next shoot I am planning to do is also in the animal category and I am planning to take photographs of domestic animals. The next shoot I do will feature a rabbit as I want to investigate whether it is easier to take photographs of wild or domestic animals.
